DELORES & LYNNE

Hi Delores and Lynne:

I miss seeing you ladies.

And, a belated Happy Birthday to Delores!  See… I remembered!  I don’t know Lynne’s birthday, but I’m sure you had one in 2024 so Happy Birthday to you too!

Speaking of birthdays: I have my 65th coming  up in February so I can start Medicare.  That’ll save a lot of money from having to buy employer healthcare.  I was going to retire too, but am having second thoughts now as Kim and I are helping to support a young refugee girl from Africa.

THERE’S A STORY TO THAT:

Kim and I are on a refugee re-settlement team from church and in 2018, we started sponsoring a refugee family from Rwanda.  The parents belong to the Tutsie tribe and became refugees during the 1994 Genocide.  They raised their family in a refugee camp.

Most of the family moved to the States in 2018, some of them in 2019 and finally the dad and one last daughter in 2020.

I have a link here to see more pictures of them.  https://livelikeacat.com/bvb/

But anyway, I decided to postpone my retirement because one of the daughters just moved to Orlando to go to college.  Her name is Claire and I love her like my own daughter.

Claire is first person in her family to go to college which is amazing because 6 years ago, she didn’t even know English or the American culture.  So I’m going to postpone my retirement so I can help finance her college education.

Kim and I never had any kids of our own, but if I was a dad, I’d want a daughter just like Claire.  She’s an amazing, beautiful young woman!  I am so proud of her!  She is a beautiful blessing from God.

Here’s a picture of her from a couple weeks ago when she moved to Orlando.  She’s starting her college classes at Valencia College right after the first of the year.

AND IN OTHER NEWS:  you probably didn’t know my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple years ago but they caught it early so it’s easily managed.  Kim was able to enroll in a research study.  They are investigating if the type of cancer Kim has is treated too aggressively in the United States. The treatment is surgery and radiation, but they are investigating if this type off cancer can be treated only with hormone blocking medication.

Last week Kim had a bi-annual enhanced mammogram and compared to 6 months ago, the cancer is still “frozen in-situ”  So we’re glad Kim doesn’t have to have surgery and radiation.

AND 2 KITTENS

This past summer, both our cats got old and sick and we had to put them down.  But we replaced them with 2 kittens.  And they are so much fun and just so adorable.

Check out the pictures I have on other pages on this website.
