CUTE KITTENS

INSERT CUTE KITTENS HERE:

We’re looking forward to upcoming adoptions.

The first kitten is a very handsome male.  We’ll be getting him from friends from church.  As of Oct 9, he still has another week before he’s fully weaned.

The second kitten is from Craig’s List and she lives in Rockford.  She’s already weaned so Kim and I will probably adopt her this coming Saturday, Oct 12, 2024!

Just by way of useless feline trivia: 80% of orange cats are male.  That’s because the genetic trait for orange fur is only on the X chromosome.  For a cat to be orange, he must inherit that trait on the X chromosome and the Y chromosome must “see” that trait which then “switches” on that trait.  For a female to be all orange, she must inherit those orange traits on both X chromosomes.  If she doesn’t inherit the orange traits on both X chromosomes, but one of the traits is expressed, then she will be calico.

And, all orange males are tabby which is a type of fur coat.  And orange cats are the most common in meme culture – think Garfield.

Actually, both these kittens are tabby as scene by the patterned M on their forehead.  So how cute does that make them?

And what do you know about crepuscular behavior?  Don’t even get me started… I have less than a year before I retire and that lifestyle has a big appeal – big meal in the morning and another in the evening and then just relax the rest of the time.  That’s why I want to live like a cat!
